The “Toys for Joy” program, which for the past 19 years has been hosted by Coldwell Banker Home Town Realty, will be merging this year with Mineral County’s “Angel Tree” Program. The “Angel Tree” operates under the Mineral County Family Resource Network a 501c3 non-profit and has also been helping to provide Christmas for children since 1995. Jim Shumaker and Terry Stephens who have served as chairmen for the “Toys for Joy” program stated that the merger was proposed to help eliminate duplication of services and to utilize resources in the best way possible. The “Toys for Joy” Program annually serves about 600-700 children while the “Angel Tree” program serves about 300- 400. Often these programs reached out to the same children. “All collected funds from the “Toys for Joy” Program are being turned over to “Angel Tree” so that we can be assured that they will go where they are needed most” said Jim Shumaker.
The agents at Coldwell Banker will continue to assist with the “Angel Tree” program in their efforts to help provide Christmas to needy children.
